How does Hallmark grow to become a multi-billion dollar company?
The secret lies in emotion marketing. Emotional marketing refers to marketing and advertising efforts that primarily use emotion to make your audience notice, remember, share, and buy. Emotional marketing typically taps into a singular emotion, like happiness, sadness, anger, or fear, to elicit a consumer response or even a potential partner.
When we begin to see someone, we also emotionally market ourselves, presenting our best version to the receiver. We don’t display our bad habits, angry outburst, or financial history. We present the image we want them to see, to hear, to even smell,
This work began as a voice recording of every Hallmark card released in anticipation of Valentines Day. The sentiments were read back to back and printed at 15 point font to create an overwhelming and large essay of language marketed to communicate affection for one individual to another. Traditionally just signed at the close.

The audio recording of the piece would be played in the office elevators of several area stores and distributed as “lost” voice recordings intended for someone particular by a woman named Anne Hedonia.
Physical anhedonia is an inability to feel tactile pleasures such as eating, touching, or sex. The symptoms of anhedonia can include: social withdrawal. diminished pleasure derived from daily activities.
Two recordings would be returned to me. The one person wanted to meet face to face. This interaction was recorded and a discussion on the motivation to return the item was archived.
