24kt Gold Gilded Platinum Prints on Vellum

What is it worth?  In a time where we constantly question our value as artists, mothers, humans and offer ourselves up for judgment in order to establish this value, this work began.  With Covid much of my work changed directions.  I had limited resources and less time to work.  I had a collection of chemicals I was cautious to use because I deemed them too precious.  Precious.  Precious metals are rare, naturally occurring metallic chemical elements of high economic value. Chemically, the precious metals tend to be less reactive than most elements when compared to a noble metal. They are usually ductile and have a high luster. 

Historically, precious metals were important as currency but are now regarded mainly as investment and industrial commodities. Gold, silver, platinum, and palladium each have an ISO 4217 currency code. These codes can be found internationally on currency and even airline tickets.  This is a clear representation of worth.

The conversation came up when I was discussing fertility treatments and the cost per gram of certain chemicals.  Some treatments were far beyond the current price of gold. 

I have not completely resolved this work and hope to continue it soon.
